This may be one of our most anticipated trips with the excitement of the Peter Y Whitehead Memorial Clinic now in construction!! We are 12 strong on this edition with 2 new members added to our growing family. Welcome to Corey and Beth and welcome back to our other cherished members! Those not with us are truly missed, but we are certain of your return soon!!
We had a little turbulence on our flights thanks to Alberto in the gulf, but all arrived with our inards intact. We ran the usual hustle in the airport and met our friend Garry for the drive to St Joseph’s. We quickly tackled some chart work as a team…a sign of real progress that we are actually having to prepare medical records…just please no EHR implementations!! We were joined for a wonderful dinner by our old friend Mildred with her husband (she is due to deliver her baby next week!), and our new friends Steve and Scott from WNY Impact. After a delicious meal we retired to our favorite spot in Port au Prince….the breezy, cool rooftop with a cold beverage!
We are getting to know each other better… and the chemistry is GOOD!
Our plans are more of the same until the days events have worn us down. Then off to bed, an early breakfast and the journey to Ile a Vache. We are looking forward to getting a first-hand view of the construction progress! We will be excited to see some cherished friends and get about the business of establishing the foundation for quality medical care on the island. I think Peter would be proud…I can feel him with us every step of the way.
