After ten or more days of being unsure whether we could go on this trip or not because of the unrest in Haiti, we are finally resolved to go on our original schedule. It is Haiti so things could change, but all seems well today.

We have our scheduled “packing party” this Saturday (March 2) so all the donated supplies for this trip need to be ready by then.

In addition, we are excited to announce that Dr. Jessie Pierce, through Staunton Baptist Church of Huddleston, VA, has generously donated vitamins and other supplies to Project Starfish. They will be well received in Haiti.

Jessie has also noted that Harman Eye Center is collecting glasses for a future trip to Ile a Vache to provide much needed eye-ware for folks who have not had access to vision care. As an Optometrist, we hope she will be able to join us on a mission trip herself to participate in the development of our planned local eye clinic.

We want to thank everyone who has or will donate to Project Starfish Haiti. You may make one time donations or become a sustaining member with a monthly donation, either of which is greatly appreciated. These supplies are a stop gap measure that will last until we get the Peter Y. Whitehead Clinic on Ile a Vache fully operational. Then, we hope, people on the island will be able to manage their own medical care.
