Good evening to all. Sorry for the lapse in communication – finally reset my phone and we are back online!

Here goes: Last night was the best sleeping weather yet and some of us even slept. Believe it or not, the roosters were mostly quiet last night but the dogs apparently could not stand the peace. Best of all – NO RAIN! Oiz had a great night and Christine not only learned Crazy 8’s but whipped the nurses at their own game.

As expected, clinic was quite busy this AM – nearly 200 patients by 12:30. We had hoped to travel to another tent city after clinic with Kez – the young American nurse extraordinaire who lives here fulltime and has been our link to our Haitian patients and the locals. Unfortunately transportation was unavailable and anyway, the 2nd wave of patients brought on by the food distribution made the excursion impossible – will try again tomorrow.

The afternoon was bittersweet – the local Haitian doctor, Dr Joey, who has a medical facility of his own came back tonight to provide nurses for coverage of our little ward. This will mean the chance for a bit more sleep on the night shift, however he has also arranged for Oiz’s transfer to his facility tomorrow AM – hence the bitter.

We need to believe it will be best for Oiz and may ultimately lead to better rehab care either here or in the states (maybe even in Roanoke), but it will be difficult to say goodbye and many tears will be shed…some already. He was visited tonight by many family members and we can only hope and pray for their ultimate reunion.

Christine will also be taking Christopher home tomorrow while awaiting a visa to the US for surgery. We know he will continue to get marvelous care from his mother but we will miss the both of them tremendously. Please continue to pray for them both.

Our little ward is closing as our departure nears. Speaking of our departure, we got good news this evening – we have confirmed reservations on Spirit Air from Port Au Prince on Monday to Ft Lauderdale and then to home.

We again enjoyed dancing, singing and playing on the roof while enjoying the breeze and the setting sun. Some of the team got a real workout.

Tomorrow will be our last clinic, some sad goodbyes and hopefully a field trip to Kez’s neighborhood and Andre’s garden(he is one of our translators). So tonight seems like a good night to finish the wine and beer.

Please say prayers for our friends and for on time departures on Monday.

Love to all – Good night. Will write again tomorrow.
