Thought I would drop a line to let you all know we made it to Port au Prince….not all intact. Those of you who have been here will appreciate that we are missing ALL of our supply bags (14). Good news though…everyone has all their personal bags and our supplies “should be” on the next flight.  Welcome back to Haiti!
So our team is again a bit divided with Kitty remaining in Port au Prince with Vanessa in hopes of collecting 14 supply bags and then coming behind us tonight as far as Jolivert.  The rest of us are now beginning our journey to the village of Haus Mustique with our new friends Cerel and Nelson who live in the US now but will provide our accommodations while we run clinic in their hometown.

We are getting to see the eastern side of Port au Prince (less earthquake destruction…no less poverty) as Cerel treats us to a true Haitian “shortcut” as we try to reach the Highway that will take us North for the next “four” hours…if we “drive fast” according to Cerel. I am betting more like 6 hours (it turns out I am channeling Rachel right now as I write this).

Anyway, our plan is to get to the village as early as possible to get things set up. If lucky, Kitty and Vanessa will join us in the morning in time for us to start a 9am clinic. If the meds don’t come….I guess we will explore and wait..

Our most exciting news so far is that we are also joined by our very good friend Josi. He will be with us all week. He is well and hopes to see all of our former team members again some day…hint!

Okay, it is now 3 o’clock and we are on the Highway north. I want to get this sent early in case I lose my cell connection as we get farther away from Port au Prince. Not to mention, if I keep typing while we are driving, I am likely to redecorate the inside of this vehicle.

Please know we are all well and excited to be back in this country. We are missing some of our friends this time but please know you are with us every step. We are most happy to be reunited with Josi and looking forward to getting to know our new friends and to exploring a new region. I am told we may not only get to know some country roosters where we are going, but may also get to see a wild turkey on this adventure. Stay tuned.

Please know how much we love you all. Will try to write again tomorrow.
