I am thrilled to report that last night we had a very exciting Skype call with our friends Steve and Scott in Buffalo, NY. They recently returned from their trip to Ile a Vache, having surveyed the properties we looked at in March…and we are in agreement on the location. They presented an initial plan for the clinic and the upstairs guesthouse and will be creating a more formal architectural rendering once the plan has been tweaked just a bit more to accommodate the most important needs.

The excitement about this project coming to fruition was palpable in the rooms, both in Virginia and New York. We cannot wait to return to Ile a Vache to begin the process of community outreach with the focus on a tangible project – a community medical clinic, someday staffed and maintained by local residents to provide sustainable medical care to the island’s population. We will not quit until the doors to this clinic open and regular medical services are being provided. This is never more relevant than now, as medical providers all over Haiti are striking due to inadequate pay from the government. This situation is leading to unimaginable tragic stories which we hope to prevent.

This dream can only come true with the continued engagement and generosity of our supporters. Now is the time to dig deep if you share our dream to help this tiny, long suffering nation and it’s deserving people! Please check out the Donate section to see how easy it is to make your tax deductible donation and I can assure you we will put your contribution to very good use.

Don’t forget to follow us here on the website and on Facebook for updates as this project progresses, for notices about plans for fundraising events and to let us know if you have an interest in joining our team. And if you happen to be in Roanoke, VA on Saturday May 21, please come downtown to the Local Colors Festival and visit our booth to learn more about our organization.

Stay tuned and as always,

Love to All,

Adam
