Who knew we would need to come back to the big city to get cooled off? After the rain last night the humidity dissipated and the breeze was actually quite chilly. I believe everyone slept very comfortably and some even needed to get under their top sheet. Not only that, but the clocks actually did fall back here in Haiti, so we got an extra hour!

Breakfast was at 9am and we ate well. Then we had about 2 hours to relax and wait for our ride to the airport. We were treated to an encore performance by Wootrod in the dining room, accompanied by Walnes and the Project Starfish women’s choir! Even the roosters chimed in.

As expected, Garry sent his drivers early enough to load the vans one last time for our short ride to the airport. It was so early though, and the weather was so nice, that we still waited awhile longer to enjoy the cool breeze and comfort of St Joseph’s before submitting to the chaos and confusion of Toussaint L’Ouverture International. As it was, our drivers were skilled in Garry’s “art of the shortcut” and we made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare.

This was just the 3rd of many lines ahead of us, but we managed the Delta passport check and check-in with ease. Have no doubt though, before we boarded the plane we had submitted our passports and boarding passes no fewer than 8 times for scrutiny, our luggage twice…and for the same price everyone got a good pat down from a trained Delta agent…no tip required! Once we ran this gauntlet, we were treated to a small waiting room for another hour, awaiting our actual boarding call. We definitely get our money’s worth of security with Delta!!

The flight to Atlanta was a bit bumpy, but we made an on time arrival and with the help of technology, cleared customs and immigration easily. Then, of course, another security check before we could enter the terminals to reach our final departure gates. Our departure times are about the same, but the Maine arrival will surely be later. Luckily we found a place to be seated quickly for dinner before we had to part ways.

Sadly, this was where the team had to split – Chelsea and Maureen headed to their gate while the Roanokers to another. The hour will be late when we arrive home so this will be my final post for this trip, but I will post a quick Facebook message once I know all are safely at their destinations.

Please wish us all safe travels as we prepare to close this chapter. We and those of you reading this know there will certainly be many more to come and I hope we will all remain committed to our goal, our dream – the completion and regular operation of the Peter Y Whitehead Memorial Clinic at Grace Ministries of Ile a Vache.

That’s all I have for now…but as always,

Love to All,

Adam
